Lauren M. Tozzi, LCSW
“The wound is the place where the light enters you”
Lauren believes with pain comes a deep propensity for healing and growth. Lauren is honored to be a part of Enodia Center, and work with women to bend, not break, while tapping into their Shakti, the ultimate divine feminine energy that exists within each of us.
Lauren holds a masters degree from Columbia University School of Social Work and a BA in psychology from Loyola University Maryland.
After graduate school, Lauren worked in Baltimore, Maryland in a diverse range of settings including director of a crisis residential program, a clinical coordinator for an opiate, alcohol and benzodiazepine detoxification program, as well as an individual, group and family trauma therapist for adolescents in residential treatment.
Lauren implemented agency wide trauma informed care at Baltimore Crisis Response, trained members of the Baltimore City police department on mental health first aid, programmed and implemented a spirituality group for women with co-occurring mental illness and addiction, and created/facilitated Heal the Healers a vicarious traumatization prevention and self care yoga class for clinicians and direct care staff. Lauren is a certified trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapist, and has additional specialized education working with queer and gender non-binary persons, as well as people healing from addiction and sexual assault.
Lauren's approach to therapy is a union of many traditions individualized to meet the needs of each person with whom she works. Lauren incorporates a myriad of psychotherapy techniques; all while maintaining a foundation focused on safe, holistic, relationship-based practice. Lauren believes that validation and respect are key ingredients to discovering one’s unique path to joy. Some of Lauren’s preferred therapeutic modalities include the incorporation of mindfulness, humanism, existentialism, CBT, DBT, Eastern philosophy, and creative expression.
As a therapist Lauren offers radical acceptance and unwavering nonjudgmental support. Lauren believes that learning to stand firmly in your own individual truth allows a person’s full potential to come more clearly into focus.
